MAHARASHTRA DYSLEXIA ASSOCIATION:

The MDA, a not-for-profit organization, was started in March 1996 by a group of parents and professionals committed to securing the rights of students with Learning Disability to an appropriate education and with a view to creating awareness about Dyslexia amongst the educational community in the city and the general public. The MDA aims to provide a better understanding of this common, but often misunderstood condition, thus working towards the acceptance of the special needs of children with Learning Disabilities and enabling them to reach their full potential.

Vacancy: Co-ordinator

Remuneration: Negotiable (based on qualifications and experience)

Qualifications & Experience Required:
•Qualifications: Masters Degree in Social Work, Social Sciences, Human Development, Education, Human Resource, Personnel Management.

•Experience: Minimum 5 years with organizations in a capacity of a co-ordinator or at a management level.

Roles and Responsibilities:
The Co-ordinator's role is pivotal in ensuring that the NGO's aim, strategies, programmes and future goals are fulfilled in keeping with the MDA's policy and overall mission. The Co-ordinator reports directly to the CEO on a day-to-day basis and shall be directly answerable to the President of the Organization.

Expertise Required: Efficiency in the following areas:
• Net-working
• Advocacy
• Fund-raising/Resource mobilization
• Good communication and leadership skills

1. Programme Development:
• To help in the formulation and implementation of the overall strategy and goals of the MDA.
• Documentation and publications (quarterly reports of all three centres, annual report, website update, newsletter etc.).
• Raise awareness about Dyslexia and LD, as also the profile of the Association, in the field of education, in the media and in society in general.
• Co-ordinate research projects along with the research core team.
• Co-ordinate the training programmes and assist in organizing talks, workshops, and other programmes of special interest to our members and other stake-holders.
• Represent the MDA at forums held on issues of LD and other related issues.

2. Resource mobilization:
• To be able to prepare project proposals for procuring funds towards the corpus, capacity building and staff development of the organization.

3. Networking & liaising with:
• With NGOs, Schools, educational institutions, organizations with which the MDA has or is currently working with.
• To develop and coordinate joint projects with various NGOs.
• Organizations in related fields & government departments and other entities in furthering the interests of the Association.
• Donors and funding organizations.
